WAVE CORRECTOR PROFESSIONAL
Last updated: December 2007
Wave Corrector Professional, version 3.4, $59 to register. The download program can be used in “trial mode” for as long as you need to evaluate it. It’s fully functional except noise removal is limited to the first 2 minutes of a file and only track 1 of a multi-track album can be saved. Paying the registration fee gets you an unlock code by email. (Upgrades are free to anyone who has registered a version prior to 3.2.)
The download file name is wcor_34.exe, file size is 1.19 MB.
You can also download the User Manual: Help340.pdf, file size is 691 kB (94 pages).
There is an online tutorial but no downloadable file.
I evaluated version 3.2 a couple of years ago with disappointing results. So I hoped some of its deficiencies had been corrected. It did a creditable job on sdemo1.was so I tried it on track 3 of the Duke Ellington. (Mono-A-Mono had done an excellent job on this track.) Unfortunately, Wave Corrector didn’t. I first tried the default click detection threshold, “3", and then each of the settings from “1" to “5". All results were equally poor; it was difficult to tell the “cleaned” results from the original file. This is unfortunate as the user interface is quite nice.
