Tuneable Stereo Rumble Filter

This high-pass filter is useful anytime you have low frequency noise that needs to be eliminated. For example, low frequencies on the record itself or because of record warp or other physical problem.


INPUT: The input resistance is 47K ohms (both channels).


GAIN: Unity gain in the passband, non-inverting. Low-noise design, 50 ohm output resistance each channel.


RESPONSE: Two (left and right), 2-pole Butterworth high-pass filters (-12 dB/octave). Cutoff frequencies from 15 Hz to 65 Hz in ten 5 Hz steps as set by an 11-position rotary switch.


POWER: Operation from a 24 VDC wall power supply (furnished). Red LED indicates power on. (No power on-off switch as operation from a power strip is assumed.)


CONNECTORS: Panel mount male RCA connectors for signal input and output. (One black and one red connector for input and output.) 2.5 mm male connector for DC power input. All connectors are on the rear side of the enclosure.


PHYSICAL: Cast aluminum enclosure measuring 170 x 160 x 63 mm (6.7 x 6.3 x 2.5 inches) overall including connectors and knobs. There are rubber bumpers on the four corners of the enclosure bottom.
