TDL Technology, Inc. was founded in 1957 (as Testronic Development Laboratory) by Ron Tipton who is still the president and principal designer.
The company name was changed to TDL of Las Cruces in 1973 and the "TDL" was registered as a US Trademark in 1975.
Dr. Tipton has degrees in electrical engineering from New Mexico State University and has worked as a civilian engineer for the US Army at White Sands Missile Range.
During the 1960s and '70s, TDL specialized in audio spectrum analysis equipment, pseudo-random noise generators, and active filters. Our principal customers included Bose Corporation, Acoustic Research, General Dynamics (Fort Worth), the National Bureau of Standards (now NIST), and the Naval Air Station at Point Mugu, California. We also designed several guitar amplifiers and a piano tuning aid (using digital electronics) for the Baldwin Piano and Organ Company.
In the '80s our main focus was on software and what are now called "embedded systems." With the '90s came smaller and more powerful microprocessors which we would have "died for" to have this degree of problem-solving capability in earlier years. We now specialize in consulting and offer a complete design, prototyping, and testing facility.
